Can someone from the sciencey side of tumblr please explain this ?

This is called shape memory. It’s made from an alloy of titanium and nickel (I believe it’s called nitinol). It has the ability to “remember” the shape it’s taken.

When cold you can bend it whatever which way, but once you heat it (or in this case put it in what I presume is hot water) it will take the original shape.

My teacher likes to pass them out individually, entering and exiting the tiny alleyways that our desks form. Today, she determined that even a person of her stature had to squeeze through the row on my left.

“Hm, could you guys move just a little to the left?”

And for once, the dirt parted to allow for the sea.

Those eyes, shades of blue and green and white that always appeared to be swirling, even when he was doing nothing at all. I could have sworn my teacher’s eyebrows were raised as my packet slid into view.

I think it’s safe to say that I failed both of my tests.
